Thelma R. Simmons

Thelma R. Simmons, 92, of Jarratt, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O. “Tommy” Simmons, Jr. and her eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her daughter, Sandra S. Rae (Wayne); two sons, Kenneth L. Simmons (Nancy) and James T. “Jimmy” Simmons (Debra); four grandchildren, Wayne Lee Rae, Jr. (Carol), Anne Marie Newborg (Will), Dennis Edward Simmons (Maggie) and Kristen Nicole Wooten (Hass) and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, February 2 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1-2 p.m.).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Purdy Baptist Church, 186 Smoky Ordinary Rd., Emporia, Virginia 23847.
