Sherman Allen

Sherman Allen, 90, of Emporia, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Proctor Allen; three sisters, Ruby Harvey, Beatrice Harrell and Phyllis Woodruff and a brother, Linward Allen.

Sherman is survived by his daughter, Lois Hobbs (Mike); two sons, Ronnie Allen (Linda) and Kenny Wayne Allen; seven grandchildren, Amy Deberry, Nicole Rochell, Sandy Wood, Yolanda Casper, April Griffin, Ryan Hobbs (Amy) and Mason Sexton; great-granddaughter, Myriah Griffin and numerous other great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Hudson and two brothers, Wesley Allen and Ray Allen (Cindy).

His funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the family will receive friends 12:30 – 2 prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery.
