Russell L. Faison

Russell L. Faison, 84, of Jarratt, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. He was the son of the late Russell E. and Mary Hundley Faison and he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Cranmore.

Russell was an active member of his community. He operated Jarratt Texaco and ran his wrecker service out of it. Later he worked at Powell Tire and Auto until it closed and then he moved on to Leete Tire and Auto and worked in lawnmower repair part-time. Russell had been a member of Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department and coached area youth in Little League baseball for many years. This led him to be very involved with girls and women’s softball as coach and he had served as commissioner of Emporia Women’s Softball League.

Russell is survived by his daughter, Tina F. Cranmore (Ron); three grandchildren, Jeremy Cranmore (Erin), Chayton Cranmore and Kele Cranmore; four great-grandchildren, Amber, Brooklyn, Scarlett and Emmett.; a sister, Barbara Newsome (L.E.).

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 11 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Friday, June 12 at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland, Virginia.
