Phyllis K. Gray

Phyllis K. Gray, 81, of Waverly, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Garland F. and Minnie Mayes Kitchen and was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Pearson. She was a lifelong member of Sappony Baptist Church. She was also active for over 60 years with the Order of the Eastern Star, Stony Creek Chapter #126.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joe Gray; two sons, Steve E. “Bip” Bishop (Marsha) and Byron F. “Whistle” Bishop; daughter, Carla Jo Harrup (Bert); five grandchildren, Steve E. Bishop, Jr., Makayla R.  Bishop, Dustin B. Bishop, Macy L. Harrup and Marina P. Harrup. She is also survived by longtime devoted friend and caretaker, Sally Massenburg.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25 at 14089 Robinson Rd, Stony Creek, Virginia where the family receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
