Marion Newsome

Marion Newsome, affectionately known to all as "Granny", passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Newsome.

Marion leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory always, including her sons Donnie Newsome (Jill) and Billy Newsome (Lisa); her sister Joyce Moore; her brothers Donald (Joan), Harold (Rose), and JD (Ann); her granddaughter Melissa Baird (Joey); and her dearly loved grandchildren Grayson, Jordan, Grace, Weston, and Parker.

Granny touched the hearts of countless people throughout her life. A strong woman of unwavering faith, she loved her church family deeply and lived her beliefs through kindness, patience, and unconditional love. Known simply as "Granny" to so many beyond her own family, she welcomed everyone with warmth and compassion, making each person feel seen and valued.

Like the bluebird of happiness, Marion brought light and comfort wherever she went. Her gentle spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she graced.

Her funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, May 4 at Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
