John W. Conner

John W. “Big John” Conner, 74, of Sussex, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a hard worker and enjoyed cutting grass and driving his tractor. John loved being out in the community and talking to everyone.

 He was preceded in death by his father, Page and his mother Elizabeth; his brothers, Alan, Roger and Bobby. He is survived by his wife, Becky B. Conner; son, John Houle (Annie); daughter, Diane Kenton; daughter, Jennifer Cooke (Dewey) and son, Todd Jarratt (Sandy); grandchildren, Angie Houle, Madison Houle, Allyx Kenton, Arin, Kenton, Nathan Kenton, Aidan Kenton, Ryan Kenton, Zach Banty (Sydney), Ryan Jarratt, Tyler Jarratt, Aidan Cooke, Kyle Jarratt, Brent Cooke (Shelby) and Austin Cooke (Killiney); four brothers, Wayne Conner, Donnie Conner (Sue), Billy Williams (Brenda), and Chuck Conner (Rosario); sister, Tammy Knott (Kyle), sister in law Becky Conner; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10 at Sharon United Methodist Church, 18133 Comans Well Rd, Yale, Virginia 23897. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sussex Courthouse Volunteer Fire Department
