Dorothy "Dottie" Mayes

Miss Dorothy “Dottie” Mayes, 84, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was born March 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Lewis and Elaine Mayes, and she was also preceded in death by her brother, Wamer Mayes; niece, Sylvia Norris and nephews, Walter Upton and Wamer Mayes, Jr. .

Dottie is survived by her sister, Pattie M. Upton; brother, Hugh Mayes and wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Kathleen Mayes; four nephews, Ted Upton, Jr. and wife, Beverly,; Fred Mayes and wife, Amy, Andy Mayes and wife, Michelle and John Norris, Jr.; niece, Sherry Mayes and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Thursday, January 12 at Winfield Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eugene H. Bloom Retirement Center, 308 Weaver Ave, Emporia, Virginia 23847.
