Deborah "Debbie" Melz

Deborah “Debbie” Melz, 68, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Verle Melz; and her siblings: Richard “Rick” MacDonald II, James “Jimmy” MacDonald, Virginia “Ginny” MacDonald, Patricia “Patty” MacDonald, and Edward “Eddie” MacDonald.She is survived by her daughters, Nicole Harrell (Matthew) and Katelyn Melz (Jason Davis); her cherished niece, Barbara Chandler; and a large extended family and dear friends.Debbie was a walking contradiction in the best way: fiercely protective, wonderfully stubborn, and endlessly generous. When she stepped into motherhood, she did everything to build a safe, loving life for her family. She was everybody’s caretaker, adored kids, and possessed a warm, wide-open heart that endured many of life’s tragedies without ever losing its capacity to love.Debbie kept everyone laughing with her sharp wit and by sending her hilariously unreadable and chaotic text-to-speech messages in her thick Boston accent. She brought unforgettable light and humor into every room she walked into.

The heartbreak of losing Debbie is shared by so many whose lives she made brighter.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
