Carroll Myron Jones, age 88, passed away September 5, 2025, at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond, VA.,

Born on October 16, 1936, Carroll was the son of Anne Estelle Jones and Charles Carroll Bodeker, Jr. He was raised in Purdy, VA by his maternal grandparents, Millard M. Jones and Esther Sara Jones.

Carroll is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years; Elizabeth Lankford Jones; two daughters, Yevonne Jones Childers (Rick) and Carolyn Jones Tucker (Walter), both of Purdy, VA; three grandsons Eric Myron Tucker of Henrico, VA, Evan Lynn Tucker (Becky) of King William, VA and Scott Tucker (Jess), of Glenwood Spring, CO; and five great-grandchildren, Colton, Levi, Harrison, and Nora Tucker, all of King William, VA.; and Ash Tucker, of Glenwood Springs Co. He was predeceased by one brother, Edward J. Flynn of Honesdale, PA, and is survived by another, Britton T. Flynn (Ann) of Murrells Inlet, SC.

Carroll served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman aboard the USS Ranger (CVA-61). After completing his military service, he returned to Purdy and began his career with Home Telephone Company. Over the next 35 years, he worked in various positions throughout the changing telecommunications industry, retiring as a manager for Verizon in Mechanicsville, VA.

Carroll began his Masonic journey in June 1959, being raised to the level of Master Mason in Tipton Lodge #226 in Munford, TN. At the time of his passing, he was a life member of Washington and Henry Lodge #344, Mechanicsville, VA. He was active in many Masonic organizations, holding life memberships in the Royal Arch, Appomattox Commandery, Richmond Scottish Rite KCCH, Royal Orders of the Jesters, and the Richmond ACCA Shrine, where he served as Potentate in 2003.

He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9808, the American Legion Post 175—both in Mechanicsville, VA—and the Independent Telecommunications Pioneer Association.

A devoted student of history, Carroll especially loved Civil War history. He spent many weekends searching for Civil War artifacts with his cousins Donnie Jones and Jimmy Jones, both of whom predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Grace Church, 9986 Purdy Rd., Purdy, VA, followed by a graveside service at Grace Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and family at the Grace Church parish hall at the conclusion of the services.
