Jamie Gurganus Rooker, 51, of Emporia, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Michael Rooker; brother, Chris Gurganus; sister, Kelly Hamilton; nephew, Bill Tomlin; aunt, Kathy Morgan and a large extended family of close friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, November 21 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The family requests all attending to dress casual. In lieu of flowers, to honor her 8 beloved canine companions and the many she had a hand in rescuing, that memorial contributions be made to the Emporia-Greensville Humane Society, Inc., 113 Baker St, Emporia, Virginia 23847.
