David Slagle

George David Slagle, Sr, 81, of Emporia, widower of Margaret Bryant Slagle, died Monday, February 4, 2013. He also was preceded in death by a son, Chris Slagle; three sisters, Mildred Prince, Helen Prince and Mabel Loftis and two brothers, Andrew and Lawrence Slagle. Survivors include three sons, George David Slagle, Jr., Kenneth Lee Slagle and Stuart A. Slagle; four grandchildren, Yvonne Slagle, Stuart Slagle, Jr., Catheryne Slagle and George David Slagle, III; one great-grandson, Brandon Chase Slagle; a brother, Parker Slagle; six sisters, Lorraine Bradley, Edna Newsome, Lilly Ruth Mitchell, Lucille Taylor, Marion Wright and Nell Prince and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb 8 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia 23867 where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9. Interment will follow at Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
