Gregory Scott Thurman

Gregory Scott Thurman, 48, of Emporia, died Saturday, December 29, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Cameron Whidden Thurman; son, Austin Thurman; his father, John A. Thurman and wife, Barbara; sister, Nancy Thurman-Watson and husband, Dennis; stepson, Brandon Whidden; step-brother, Travis Snead and wife, Carmen; step-sister Kathy Bursey; step-nephew, Tyler Snead; mother-in-law, Peggy Wentz and two sisters-in-law, Caren Wentz Brown and Catherine Wentz Lawhon. Mr. Thurman was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Edna Thurman and brother Jeffrey Lynn Thurman A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. Interment will be Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Peck’s Mill, West Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Emporia.
