Margaret B. “Kitty” King, 84, of Emporia, widow of Bernard S. King, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Royal Marvin Barnes, Jr. and a sister, Elizabeth Smeltzer. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary K. Beverly of Danville; grandson, Brad Whichard two sisters, Marie Barnes Thompson of Virginia Beach and Nancy B. Harris of Emporia and a brother, Edward C. Barnes, also of Emporia. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Saturday, may 26, 2012 at Greensville memorial Cemetey. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Monumental United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
